I am so excited that Dickie V is finally calling an Illinois men's basketball game. I have been waiting for this all season. Every time Illinois play's on ESPN I, get excited because I know we have a chance to hear him broadcast the game.
As Dickie V gets older, I see people say things on Twitter like he is not the same, Dickie V is not as exciting as he once was. He stills knows a lot about the game and will bring energy, which is all you can ask.
Illinois has a big game at 3 p.m. against Ohio State today. This game will be a determining factor for who gets the final one seed in the NCAA tournament.
Some keys to winning this game are, containing Duane Washington Jr and E.J. Liddell. Washington averages 15 points, three assists, and three rebounds. Liddell averages 16 points and seven rebounds. When Liddell played Illinois last, he had 26 points on 62 percent. To win this game, Illinois will have to play a full 40 minutes on both sides.
The last time these two teams met Illinois was in the game for 30 of the 40 minutes. They went on a stretch where they could not score or get a stop. Then when the game was running out of time, they turned it on. It was too little too late.
Even though Illinois is coming off arguably the best road win of the season after beating Michigan by 20+ points, they are still underdogs. Vegas has them at 2 points, underdogs. I would be taking the points for Illinois and the money line at +112.
There has not been an update about Ayo if he is playing or not. I expect us to win with or without Ayo.
Hopefully, Illinois wins, we hear Dickie V talk about how awesome Andre Curbelo is and, we hear him scream "baby."
