Former Illinois Kicker On His Ninth Team in Three Years

Chase McLaughlin has a nice jersey collection for the two years that he has been in the NFL. McLaughlin has played for 28% of the NFL. That is something not everyone can say. This would only happen to a kicker as they are always going through a revolving door if you are not one of the big-name kickers.

I think McLaughlin can take the job of Cody Parkey. Parkey, who is known for the famous double doink from his time with the Chicago Bears, missed only three kicks in the 2020 season, but his longest kick of the season was 46 yards. McLaughlin's longest field goal of his career is 52. Also, while McLaughlin was at the University of Illinois went 4-6 on 50+ yard field goals. McLaughlin became the first Illinois kicker to score field goals of 50 plus yards in three consecutive games. McLaughlin later achieved a school-record five 50-plus yard field goals. McLaughlin has the leg to be an NFL kicker in today's game where kickers have to be consistent from 50+.

People tend not to remember kickers who bounce around the NFL but sadly, McLaughlin gets remember for this shank for the win against the Seahawks.

What people do not remember about this game, McLaughlin went 3/4 on field goals and made one to send it into overtime. So, when people bring up that game, I like to bring up the kicks that no one remembers.

Illinois might be turning into Kicker/Punter University. Chase McLaughlin graduated In 2019 and is in the NFL. They have the best punter in college football with Blake Hayes and a consistent and clutch kicker in James McCourt.

I believe that McLaughlin has found his home in Cleveland. He is younger than Parkey and, who wants a guy who is known for the double doink on their team?
