This game is flat-out ugly. Illinois is out three starters, there are a lot of new faces are playing together yet, Illinois is winning by 13. It could be a lot worse.
On the bright side, Coleman Hawkins is doing everything tonight. Hawkins has 8 points 5 rebounds and 2 assists. An unexpected star of the half goes to Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk. BBV has 5 points and 5 rebounds. BBV is out hustling everyone on the court, making the most out of his minutes. BBV is someone I would keep an eye on to land the backup center role. He has been out hustling Omar Payne and also knows all the older players and knows the system better.
One thing I would like to see coach Underwood do in the second half is find a way to play Brandin Podziemski more. The freshman was ranked 70th on the 247 rankings has not played as much as the other freshman.
Other than that, I just want to see Illinois close this out and win the game by double digits.
