What Will Albert Do Next?

The Angels have just released Albert Pujols on the last year of his 10-year 253 million dollar contract. Pujols has not decided on if he is going to keep playing this year, or if he will retire. I know Cardinals fans want Albert to come back to St.Louis for one last ride.

Pujols has not been the same since leaving St.Louis after winning the World Series in 2011.

Here are his splits from his time with St.Louis and with LA. There is a drop-off whenever Pujols left St.Louis he was 31. He just kept getting older and older and, slowly the production was dropping off as well. But this blog is not going to slander Albert.

Albert will forever be a Cardinals legend and just an MLB legend in general. The machine has 667 which, is with all-time in the history of baseball. Out of all those home runs, my favorite one of all time is from 2005 NLCS game 5. Albert KILLED this ball it went onto the railroad track. If the Astros did not play in a dome that ball would have gone out of the stadium.

One of the coolest moments that I have seen in person is when Albert made his return to St.Louis in 2019. Busch Stadium was electric when he came back. They gave him the standing ovation that he deserves.

Growing up a Cardinals fan everyone wanted to wear number 5 and play first base. Whenever I would cross home plate or get a hit I would always point to the sky just like Albert did. At the age of 8 I wanted to be like him so bad I would go the gum ball machines but instead of gum they were fake necklaces and try to get a gold chain to rock like him. Albert Pujols was my favorite player as a kid who grew up a Cardinals fan and if this is it for him he had an amazing career and will be in the hall of fame in no time.

The million-dollar question is, what will he do next. I mentioned that Cardinals fans would love to have him back. But what if he has one more ride in him but not with St.Louis. What if he ran it back with his long-time manager Tony La Russa. That would be very interesting to see. Especially since he has only been on a team that primarily color has been red.

Whatever Albert ends up doing, he had an amazing career and will be a Hall of Famer when it is all said and done.
